Briana frowned and, not knowing what she had thought of, a smile suddenly appeared at the corner of her mouth.
“Mr. Yoder, living in Hector’s villa, didn’t you feel awkward?”
Maxim’s eyes grew colder for a moment, and just as Briana thought he was about to get angry and leave, Maxim suddenly spoke up. “Since he’s willing to lend you the villa and knows that we’re married, I suppose he won’t say anything about having one more person.”
She gritted her teeth and said coldly, “But I don’t want to live with you!”
“Briana, I wouldn’t leave. Arrange a room for me or come back with me! Don’t forget, I am now partially paralyzed and you can’t escape the responsibility!”
After a long silence, Briana finally gave in.
“Okay, I went back with you.”
She didn’t want Maxim to stay here, in case they would continue to be entangled after he found out the truth.
After tossing and turning all night, Briana returned to Glamor Villa and took a shower before going to sleep in the guest bedroom. This time, Maxim didn’t insist on her staying in the same room as him. After all, she had already come back, and a few days wouldn’t make much difference.
The next morning, Briana arrived at the entrance of MY Corporation and saw Mallory and Kiley waiting there.
Seeing her, the anger in Mallory’s eyes seemed to have found a place to vent. She walked quickly towards Briana, raising her hand to hit her.
“Briana! Withdraw the lawsuit immediately! You have brought shame upon the Schneider family’s reputation!”
Briana took a step back to dodge Mallory’s slap, which made Mallory even angrier.
“Are you still hiding?”
Briana looked indifferent and said, “Why didn’t I dare?”
“I was your mother! I taught you a lesson that was absolutely necessary!”
Kiley on the side also chimed in, “Briana, Mom didn’t sleep all night because of your situation. She cried several times. You shouldn’t be stubborn with Mom. Withdraw the lawsuit, okay? Do you want to just watch Mom lose face and apologize to the Ponce family?!”
Briana smiled and said, “Adeline slandered me online. Instead of going after the real culprit, you come to me, the victim, and ask me to withdraw the lawsuit. Don’t you find it ridiculous?”
As soon as the words fell, Mallory’s sharp voice rang out.
“Briana, if you were not at fault, how could Ms. Ponce post those things online?! Let me tell you, if you don’t withdraw the lawsuit, I will consider you as if I don’t have a daughter!”
Briana nodded and said slowly, “I did make a mistake!”
Mallory’s eyes flickered with surprise, seemingly not expecting her to
change so quickly, but then she coldly snorted, “It’s good that you know! As long as you are willing to apologize, I won’t pursue this matter!”
“Mrs. Schneider, I hadn’t finished speaking yet. My mistake was returning to the Schneider family when I was sixteen years old. I thought you had found me to compensate me, but I didn’t expect it was to donate bone marrow for Kiley!”
The faces of the two people across from each other changed. Mallory gritted her teeth and said, “You are Kiley’s sister, it is only right to save her!”
“I hadn’t finished speaking yet, Mrs. Schneider, you don’t need to be so eager to refute.”
Mallory coldly looked at her, she wanted to see what else Briana could
“I was wrong to have any illusions about you and Zane, about the Schneider family. I had hoped to maintain a last shred of peace, but it seems impossible now.”
During the three years when Kiley was abroad, every time Mallory had a headache or fever, it was Kiley who ran around and took her to see a doctor.
She used to think that one day Mallory would see her true heart, but now she realizes that no matter how hard she tries for another three years, she can’t compete with Kiley’s sweet words.
Sensing the wrong tone in Briana’s voice, Mallory’s anger intensified. “Briana, are you determined not to apologize?!”
A hint of mockery flashed in Briana’s eyes as she looked up at Mallory and said, “I won’t apologize, and I won’t come back to the Schneider family in the future. Since we don’t have a mother–daughter bond, let’s
not bother each other anymore.”
After speaking, Briana turned around and was about to leave.
Mallory lost her temper and yelled at Briana, “If I had known you would turn out like this, I should have strangled you back then!”
