Josie’s POV
What did I just do? I asked myself inwardly, watching the horror look on Ashton’s face.
Goddess, it takes all of my strength to still stand before him, holding my fingers up, faking a nonexisting engagement.
This decision was impromptu, though. When I walked past him to where I was standing now, I cunningly brought out the ring I saw in the gown I was wearing now.
The ring no doubt belonged to Jane but thank goodness it came in handy. I thought about
dropping the ring this morning when I found it but I decided against it because I didn’t want to lose
- it.
Still flicking my fingers, letting the warm glow of the sun shine over the ring, I enjoyed the look of frustration on Ashton’s face.
Aside from frustration though, I see something else. Is that jealousy or is it my thinking?
Whatever, I scoff. I don’t
want that look on his face to guilt–trip me.
“I believe now you know I wasn’t lying when I said it before that I have a man?”
That’s a statement but I said it in the form of a question.
I heard Ashton take in a long breath. As if unbothered, he put his hands into the pockets of his white scrub, squaring his broad shoulders.
Damn, that position he took, displaying his alpha features made me drag curious gazes around his body.
My, my, he looked too handsome and tantalizing.
I felt the urge to walk toward him and roam my fingers around his body. all the slabs of muscles on his body.

surprises happen?” I arched a brow at him, then scoffed. “I got my surprise just last night, and your know what comes after a lady says ‘yes‘ to her man.”
Oh, shit. What did I just say?
I literally insinuated about se , what’s wrong with me? I mentally slapped my cheeks.
Looking at Ashton, his eyes were red and bulged. Veins popped out on the sides of his head.
I don’t know what the hell is wrong with my mouth because it couldn’t seem to shut. Not even when my wolf was pounding her paws in anger for me to stop.
Dry heaving a breath, I spilled more vile words. “I’m sure you already know the direction of my words. Oh, I wouldn’t want to bore you with the details, Mr. Ashton.” I shrugged mindlessly, not in the least scared of the growls Ashton let out.
His hands were balled into fists even as he pocketed them..
Turning my back to him, I smiled to myself, mentally clapping and cheering myself for being so
strong.
I threw a long at him from over my shoulder and said. “Call me when you’re ready for today’s
lesson. Mr. Ashton.”
At that, I took steps away from him, grinning.
I went to the gazebo in the courtyard and took a seat there. Bringing out my lesson notes, I pretend to be reading, knowing Ashton has his eyes pinned on me.
That made it hard for me to breathe. He stood there for over twenty minutes if I counted it right, before he walked away and I sighed in relief.
I spent long hours in the gazebo, waiting for Ashton’s call. I almost got up and left but I couldn’t. Not when I knew I needed the money.
At long last, a petite nurse with red hair that was tied in a neat bun strutted over to me and informed me that Ashton was ready.
I moved into his office and saw him sitting regally like the alpha king he was, on the swivel chair behind his desk.
His eyes gave me a once–over as I took a seat across from him.

The nurse was about to shut the door when Ashton called her back.
“Ms. Thorn, could help Ms. Rose and I with coffee?” He directed the nurse.
“Latte, please,” I said, interrupting him. I don’t want to drink the same drink as him.
“Alright, sir.” Ms. Thorn nodded and slammed the door shut.
I flexed my hands on the table as I looked at him, eyeball to eyeball. Seriously, I don’t know where that confidence is coming from.
Then. “Before we start, I’d like to ask you questions about what we discussed last, Mr. Ashton.”
“Go on.” He remarked.
“Can you pronounce the following words in Russian?”
I listed out the words I wanted him to pronounce. Ashton flexed his arms, leaning over the table as he looked at my face and called out the words, perfectly.
“Impressive. Now, from these words, form a sentence with one of them.”
I wanted to probe him to know how intelligent he was.
“I love you,” Ashton says in Russian, much to my surprise.
Color drained from my face at his words and it took hundreds of muscles in me not to crumple..
Did I mention that Russian sounds so from his lips? , I wonder if he could sprinkle Russian naughty words while ….
“You, of course he can, My wolf’s voice chimed in.
‘C’mon, that sure can’t be me.‘ I whispered to her and she whined.
“I don’t
remember teaching you that, Mr. Ashton.” I pointed out.
Slowly, he pressed his back over the chair again.
“As a student, I’m expected to read ahead, am I not?” he asked, burning a track on my skin with his
gorgeous eyes.
“Exactly,” I responded.
At that moment, Ms. Thorn returned with the steaming cup of coffee and latte. I grabbed mine. blowing air over it before I took a gulp.
Even though Ashton was drinking his, his eyes were pinned on me. He drank the hot coffee as if it

didn’t burn his tongue.
“Don’t you blow air over your coffee?” I blurted out, hating myself for it.
He raised a brow reluctantly. Then, “I like it hot, Ms. Rose.”
My bad. I shouldn’t have asked that.
I pulled my eyes back down on the note I made before clearing myself as I dropped the cup of latte on the table.
“Ouch!!” I yelped in pain when the mug mistakenly kicked at the edge of the table and poured on my body.
Ashton sprang onto his feet swiftly and walked to my side in three long steps.
“Are you hurt?” He spoke frantically, dropping on his knees to examine my burnt skin.
“I’m fine… “I belt out, wanting to pull away and hide the wound but Ashton’s steely hands gripped my thigh.
Shit, feeling his rough palms over my thigh, an involuntary moan left my lips.
He flexed his finger over the wound, eliciting a moan and hunger from me.

“Let me have a look…” He muttered, pulling the gown up, up, up.
