I have so many things I want to pour out to Josie. My first thought was to do so this evening when every other person on the patio must have gone away.
I had that hope but the moment she took that call and I heard the voice of a man coming into my ears caress, I felt nothing but a sweep of crushed hope.
Josie’s face lit up as mine darkened. Totally unaware of my inner turmoil.
“Ms. Rose, can you give me a few minutes…” I blubber, sauntering in her tow.

It felt like that night all over again. The night I subjected myself to a world of pain as I rejected Josie.
I want her back but even my rational mind knows that’s just wishful thinking. Like sand, she has slipped away from my fingers. Never to return.

I’ve never felt this strong urge to smash my hands into something but right now, it’s floating through me.
This minute I was standing in front of the hospital and in the next, I was driving down the road towards the pack

Packing my car on the curb, I rush outside.
Fuck, my blood zings as I catch sight of Dane sparring with the new enforcers.
I pad my way down, hearing their yells of pain and effort.
It pumps my blood with a new kinda fervor. The urge to fucking inflict pain on someone.
Too bad, my fucking mind already knows who will bear the brunt of it.
Hands in my pockets, I pause momentarily watching Dane grunt as he takes on the young blonde lycan stomping into his space while slashing his sword towards Dane’s direction.
Anticipation thuds through me as I watch Dane dodge the attack by sliding hastily to his knees.
Still completely unaware of my imposing presence, my zeta jumps to his feet swiftly with the ease of a predator and lunges an attack.
“Pause!” I order the alpha command in my voice freezing them in their spots.
With pulsing veins, I saunter into their space and then release them.

They jerk at my order and begin moving again.

I scoff, taking off my tweed Jacket and handing it to the female servants as they approach, greeting me.
Bowing at me, they skitter off.
“You guys are no doubt doing great.” I address the new recruits. This is apparently my first time seeing them.
“Thanks, alpha.” They echo with a slight tilt to their heads.
“You may leave, I’ll take it from here with your trainer.” I peg Dane with a stare as I say that.
A soft smirk splinters his lips as he watches the enforcers hurtle away from the training ground.
“let me guess, you need some good punch.” He says, knowingly.
I roll the sleeve of my shirt, not conceding to his words.
“More like purging out some pent–up feeling!” I say with a snarl.
Immediately, my lycan emerges, snarling low under his breath.
I crack my fingers as my claws elongate. Taking the hint, Dane shifts, his lycan brooding and gigantic.
Taking a defensive position, my raging lycan snaps into his space, launching an attack.
Howls. Growls. Blood. Fists against fists. Cracking bones. Quaking ground comes in the wake of our spar.
Being a zeta, a warrior by birth, Dane’s lycan is as strong as mine. Our strengths matching but a little

Smacking Dane down with my arm resting tightly over his neck, he whoops a resigned breath, then shifts back.

We’re both bare now and I watch the servants running towards us with robes in their hands.
“Woman problem again?” He asks, slipping his hands into the robe the servant is offering to him.
I grumble, throwing my eyes away as images of Josie with that man storm into my mind again.

“I knew it. You seem to have developed that woman problem lately, alpha. Makes me wonder who the bird is.”
Dane sputters.
I widen my arms as the servants crosses in front of me, tying the thick black robe around me.
She bows and takes her leave afterward, as well as the one serving Dane.
“Who is really the woman messing that head of yours, alpha?” He asks.
Dane sure doesn’t
know who the person in question is. He sure wasn’t around when I brought Josie here. For two different nights.
We step away from the training grounds, walking together toward the frontage. The guards all line up in their positions, standing on guard.

Well, everything changed–the mindset dissolved around me the very minute my eyes wandered to the fountain side, just in the middle of the old pack house, and I beheld the girl there.
Though she looked lean making me assume she was a servant. I was about to cut my eyes away when she raised her head from the crystal water and locked her eyes on mine.
Instantly, my body stilled as I saw the profound features that belie her beauty. The dull sparkle in her calls to me. An expression I couldn’t understand crossed her face.

I didn’t know what she was thinking but the moment my lycan jerked inside me, I knew I felt something for that strange girl.
For a moment longer we stared at each other before my mother and the alpha called my attention away.

I turn to my side, staring at him.

“You know what? I’m going to set you up with someone.” Dane declares.
