I throw all caution to the wind and spread my arms around his neck, holding him close and tightly and responding to his

We cut the call after that. A moment of silence passes between me and Ashton.
Suddenly, I feel him getting close. I don’t open my eyes to see his expression but when he touches me, I bash my eyes open and step away from his grip.
“It’s been a wonderful night, Ashton. I suggest you leave already.”
I look into his face as I say the words and I’m not surprised seeing hurt flash through his expression.
“You’re right…” He murmurs. “I should leave.”

I watch Ashton leave my apartment and the click of the front door indicates he’s already away.
