Diego’s POV
When it’s time for Aria’s school dismissal, I round up the other things I’m doing in the office and stroll outside, my jacket hanging in the loop of my arms,
My employees loom around the building, getting things done.
Some were carrying the cement bags and blocks to the truck parked outside. Of course, those cement and blocks are being sent to the current construction site.
I weave into my car and drive straight down to Aria’s school to get her.
I still don’t know the reason Rose thinks it’s better for Aria to be staying at Testa’s..
The thought has been gnawing at me but I’ve not found it in me to ask her. She said it’s better considering the nature of her job but I know there’s more..
Rose hasn’t been herself the past two days and I don’t know why. She canceled our date without giving a clear excuse and I let her.

In record time, I arrive at Aria’s school. While strutting inside to reach her class, I pause in the crowded hallway upon seeing Rose and her daughter.
As always, Aria’s blabbering while Rose laughed.

“Uncle!!!” Aria snaps when her eyes land on me and she runs forcefully towards me.

We chatter for a few minutes before all three of us move to my car, Rose f

Again, Rose’s quiet. She’s only smiling and I don’t know why. She wouldn’t open up to me.

At that, I thumb through my phone in search of her number. Finding it, I call her.

“Hey, D. Good morning..” She says brightly.
“Hmmm…seems like someone’s
in a good mood today?” I tease, walking around my penthouse in nothing but briefs.

By now, I’m in the kitchen arranging the coffee machine so I can brew a cup of hot coffee for myself.

That makes my brows hike up quizzically even though she can’t see me.

I don’t want to probe further knowing she doesn’t want to say much about that. Instead, I decided to try my luck again.
“Will you be available for a date tonight? Just want us to…
“Yes! I’ll be available tonight.” She chirps, cutting me off.
Excitement sizzles through me and I nearly throw my hands up in joy but I wait until we finally hang up…
Dropping the phone on the granite countertops, I kick my hands in the air and dance excitedly.
Afterward. I hurry to meet with my client but my mind isn’t there. I’m just imagining Rose and I tonight.
I know she wouldn’t want somewhere too luxurious for a first date that’s why I make reservations at Hell’s Kitchen on my way back to the office.
I spent the rest of the day at the office and once my alarm alerts me that it’s already six in the evening, I hurry home and prepare for our date.
Before long, I’m already exiting the penthouse to my car. I roll down the winding road to her house, soft music playing in
the car.
By the time I reach my destination, which is Rose’s house it’s already seven in the evening.
I bleep her on call.
“Hey, D. Uhh….I’m almost done prepping up, just give me like ten minutes and I’ll be out.” She says hastily.
“Sure. Take all the time you need.” I gasp, smiling as I imagine her running around her room just to get prepared. Tapping my fingers on the steering wheel, I bob my head to the music playing as I wait for Rose.
And like she said, she comes out at exactly ten minutes. Setting my eyes on her, I skip several breaths as I take in the bodycon sequin micro mini skirt she’s wearing and a red peplum top.
My eyes drag from her straight legs, and exposed thighs up to her chest where the top reveals some cleavage, then finally settle on her exquisitely beautiful face.

I didn’t know when I quickly flutter my door open and step outside, reaching my hands out.

We shove ourselves into the car and I drive off, down to Hell’s Kitchen.
The drive doesn’t take more than an hour and once we reach there, I hasten outta my car and hurry over to her side..
“This place?” She asks with wide eyes as she clenches out of the car.
“Sure, any problem?” I ask
“Nothing. Nothing at all.” She hums.
I don’t take it as anything, so I grab her hand in mine to shoo her inside but I notice how cold her hand is.
Is she okay? I think to myself as I notice even her hesitant steps.
Stopping by the door, I whirl around, facing her.
“I can understand if you do not want to dine here…”
“Diego, this place is cool. I…I like it…” She says, wanting to reassure me.
But why do I feel like she’s trying to reassure herself?
The thoughts race through my mind as we go inside and settle in one of the tables.
We placed our order, sautéed chicken and rice.
We begin devouring the food when it’s served.
I try to throw in conversation to make the tense air light.
“Did you later find the job you’re looking for?” I ask her. I don’t need to tell her not to look for a job.
Knowing Rose, she’ll never accept to depend on me for anything. I love that about her though.
“Yeah, I did…” She trails off.
I guess it didn’t work out.
“Then what’s your next plan..” The words leave my lips but someone else’s voice cuts through the air, reaching both our
cars.
“Josie…?”
Watching Rose with my brows up. I noticed how she instantly paled.
She grinds her teeth together in anger, clenching her fork in her hand.
Why is she reacting so much at the mention of the name Josie?
Thoughts running wild, I veer my head to the side, wanting to know who that is.
