Ashton’s POV
She left, I think to myself watching the doors Josie walked through with a man in her hand.
The man she’s engaged to. She called her baby.

Josie’s POV
“Do you still love him?”
The question hangs in the air between us. I watch Diego’s eyes and I see the flash of hope and expectations.
For a moment there, I find it hard to let words out despite how much I’ve opened and closed my mouth.
Breathe, I tell myself. Then, “No.” I gush.
Diego let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding. With case, he stalks to my space and stops.

I allow the tension to pass away as I step further into the kitchen.

However, as I was about to move away from the counter and look at Diego across the living room, I found him behind me.
