Chapter 88
Josie’s POV,
I
“I know, darling. I’ll be there in the evening.” I ramble into the phone to Aria as I maneuver my way into the living room.
I have a cup of mocha in my hand and I gently drag in a sip as Aria rattles off the
things she wants me to get her.
“You sure want a box of candy? Last I checked, I got you two boxes, I hum, sinking into the sofa and feeling exhaustion creeping in

“But I want more. I shared the last boxes with my best friends, Jeff and Jenny.”
Hearing my daughter’s voice is like a balm to my racing heart and hammering head,
I woke up feeling entirely different after the burst of pain and power 1 felt in the
middle of last night.
I’m yet to understand what actually happened to me but I am afraid if anyone finds out
they’ll think I’m a freak
I’ve never heard such things happening to a wolf before. Am I a witch and wolf?
Hell, that’s impossible.

Thoughts fill my mind, making me scared. That’s why I called my daughter to hear her
sweet, soft voice. I know it’s going to help me calm.
Aria has been my source of strength since I had her. And hearing her sonorous voice now
calms me.
That’s very nice of you, darling. It’s always good to share. Alright, I promise to get
more boxes for mommy’s favorite?
“Yay!” She shoots in joy. “I love you, Mommy!”
My heart somersaults and I hum. “I love you too, honey.”
Ending the call, I whisk my mind away by scrolling through social media.
Coming across a flood of pictures, my heart tumbles.
It’s Ashton.
And in his hand is Dr. Sandra.
She’s wearing a cocktail dress that’s very revealing and has her hand wrapping around
Ashton’s waist.

They hosted an induction? Ashton never told me about that.
I fume, fussing my hands together in angry fists.
So, Ashton never bothered to inform me about the induction. He literally went out with Dr.
Sandra after claiming never to be into her?
To think he went to her after our meeting last night.

Scrolling my hand through my hair. I feel spikes of anger.
In one go, I gulp my mocha and rise on my feet. I have to head to that hospital. I
can’t stand the thought of him and Dr. Sandra
That’s a low for him after claiming to be perfect.
As I’m about to walk into the kitchen and dispose of my mug, I hear the knock on the
door
Skating over. I pull the locks open and gasp at the sight of Di
“D” I whisper, downing the lump of spittle in my throat. “You came back
earlier than expected”
Whenever he travels to his park we never speak over the phone until he’s back. It usually takes him one week or more to return but seeing him back in a few days, it’s
incredible.
“That’s me…” Diego rasps, crossing the threshold and shutting the door behind him.
As the slams close, Diego pins himself on me, taking my lips in a whooping kiss I
never saw coming.
Diego traps my lower lip between his teeth, sliding his wet tongue over it as he pins me to
wall.
I pant, sinking my fingers into his hair. I can’t help wondering what’s going on with
him.
I return the kiss, wanting to scratch off thoughts about Ashton and the picture of him
and Sandra.
He’s not someone I should be worried about not in the least.

Diego bring the kiss to a stop, glaring into my eyes while running his thumbs up and down
my cheeks
“I missed you” He growls, his eyes fierce.
Something is definitely wrong. I can see it glinting in his eyes.
“D. what happened!” I manage to let the words out.
“Nothing. He says
“Nothing won’t make worry lines etch on your face.”
“Believe me. It’s nothing too serious. Just pack matters;
I still feel unsatisfied with his answers but I can’t force him to speak if he doesn’t
We bask in the silence that follows the barrage of questions and hot kisses. Unfortunately,
it gets broken when Ashton’s calls come in.
“My client’s already calling. I have to get to work.” I whisper into the air but loud enough for Diego to hear.
“Client: You mean the doctor?”
I nod gingerly not sure why Diego is being specific. He sure knows the person in
question is my ex–mate but has never bothered about it.
“Alright”
He offers as I rise to my feet. I’m almost at the bedroom’s doorway when Diego rambles out. “You know I love you, right?”
I don’t speak only staring wonderingly at him.
“I love you, Rose. Always will.”
I weave my way through the long hallway of the hospital, stopping briefly to greet Mrs. Anderson before continuing my way down to Ashton’s office.
Getting there on a whim, I pull the door open and see Ashton sitting behind his desk,
staring intently into his screen.
“Ms. Rose” He rises on his feet, watching me venture into the room. Tve been expecting you. Why so late?”

Ashton orders Ms. Thorn to get a cup of coffee for me and we begin our lesson for today.

I managed to pull through, teaching Ashton all I had planned for the day. He keeps his
eyes on me, as if gazing into my soul.

Flipping through the page of the lesson note. I proceed again. Now we’re getting into
the harder part of landscape learning which is the communication aspect
“Why are you bothered: The words shock me and I peer up at him.
I feel shees of anger that he’s asking that,
Why does he always pretend like he cares?
“Nothing of your concern. Mr. Ashton” I snap, forcefully flipping through another
page when the pictures nush into my mind again.
“Everything about you concerns me.” He smatters, pinning me with a long stare.
“And why is that?” I rattle out.
“Because you’re my mate, Josie.”
Swiftly. I snap away from the seat upon hearing that.
“Ashton Creed. I’m not your mate!
I ensure to punctuate the word mate.
As if on fire, he emerges on his feet and storms toward me.
“Yes, Josie Ward. We’re fated to be. You can’t deny it.”
I chuckle humorlessly as I trade glances with him
“You have a host of women wanting to have you theirs. I mean, the induction picturest
are enough proof, so why don’t you go after them? For crying out loud, Ashton, this…is
purely business. Nothing else.“”
Ashton steps forward and I move back until I find myself falling into the inner
check–up room and falling on the bed.
Gasps vibrate from my mouth from the impact..
I nearly pee in my panties as he brings his face a hairsbreadth away from mine.
“Why do I smell jealousy?” He asks his voice nothing but a pure growl.
“Huh!” I scoff. “I am not and will never be jealous!”
“Lies! Every scent wafting from your body says it all. The glint in your eyes is pure
proof. Undiluted”
As he speaks, his eyes flick up to my eyes, down to my lips, and even lower to my
chest
It freaks me out. That powerful, seductive looks he’s giving me. It’s making me lose my
breath and senses.
“Get away from me, Ashton. “I pant, losing the strength in my voice.
A smirk curls Ashton’s lips. Swinging closer, he aims for my lips but I can’t grant him that access after what I saw.
Pressing my hand on his chest, I try to push him away but something powerful…like memories, dreams, or something bashes into my head.
My eyes slam close in a haste and I go into that dreamland.
In that same tower, I see myself standing in what appears like a wedding dress with ment
dragging me inside while I scream for them to let me go.
They’re powerful. Way too strong I can’t outmatch them.
Ihoot in tears as they dump me on the floor before a large throne with a man sitting on

I can’t see his face amidst the scary facade of a demon’s face.
As if in a flash, I see Ashton running through barriers and rushing into the throne room
and over to the demon lord.
In the next breathing moment, Ashton’s lying on the ground in the pool of his blood own.

I scream, overcome by the fear of losing him as I rush to his side, watching as
life leaves his eyes.
“Josie…”
That voice and the shake of my hand pulls me back to reality.
I feel something wet on my cheeks as I watch Ashton with a concerned look in his eyes.
“No! No!” I cry out, snaking away from him and running into the restroom.
With force, I slam the door close and perch my back on it.
What was that? What kind of a daydream was that?” I whisper under my breath as
my heart roars.
Darting my eyes around as if I’m in that tower. In that throne room, tears spring from my
eyes.
I don’t understand what’s happening to me. Who do I talk to?
I splash some water on my face and make my way out after a while.
Just as I’m stepping into the office, I see Ashton holding out his phone to me, and on the screen is the picture of him and Dr. Sandra. The very one I saw.
My eyes go owl–wide as I watch him…
“So, this is it?” Ashton asks with a disbelieving look in his eyes.
