Josie’s POV
“You thought being saved by the alpha would get you off our backs, didn’t you?” Ephraim’s dark voice curdled my blood and I crawled backward as much as fear allowed me.
I’m sure the look in my eyes gave me away, given the smirk of victory shining on his face.
The rogue lycanwolves were bad news all over the city. The terror they had caused always sizzled the air and news. Wherever they entered they made sure to leave a trail behind, still no one could raise the alarm to the authorities.
Countless news of women they had raped and those taken into captivity was no longer news to people like us. Worst yet, men were also captured once they failed to comply with them.
It is funny how I thought only women could be traded as slaves in their pack, only for my thoughts to be proved wrong when they took a man from our neighborhood into captivity when he had refused them to take his wife.
I had watched Merit cry herself to sleep after watching how her mate was injected with an obedient drug only to pleasure women who were Logan’s clients.
That was a horror I had always prayed to never to witness. My body trembled under the weight of their hungry gazes that oozed dark power.
I nibbled my lips, not knowing what to say in this situation while I blamed myself endlessly.
Had it been I known all of these before, I wouldn’t have indulged myself by borrowing money from

When I first saw him plodding around our area with that innocent look on his face, I thought he was truly a people’s man. I thought he was the kind I could run to for help but I got it all wrong. That wasn’t the case but the information reached me too late. I was already indebted to him.

One behind Ephraim smirked dragging his eyes around me as if me. I felt the strong urge to puke but I couldn’t try that for fear of sudden death.
“Now, it’s about time we take what we want….” Ephraim remarked, his voice laced with joy. “You know I always had eyes for you…it was just so bad I couldn’t voice it before. Now, fate had played you right into my arms, you see?”
In instant, he covered the hairsbreadth of space between us and held my chin roughly with his fingers.

Hearing the winces of pain I released goaded him to press himself into me.

I knew I was losing It as I felt my wolf thrusting to the surface.
When my eyes flashed, revealing my wolf, Ephraim only barked a laugh.
“Oh, I’m scared shitless at the sight of that.” He mock–laughed and his guys did too. Laughing at me for trying to shove my wolf to the surface.
The reason they weren’t scared was obvious, they were lycans and I’m nothing but a mere wolf.
My strength could never match theirs.
I notice the expression on their faces, confirming my thoughts.
With a shake of my head, I reared back, wanting a chance to escape but too bad, I hit the chest of his follow. The hard member pressing against my ass showed the person was as hard as Ephraim.

That moment I had pressed against the person’s chest, their hands came up to my waist, keeping me firm and Ephraim thrust forward.
He clasped his hand over my jaw again and brought his face rashly over mine.
As his lips wanted to take mine, I raised my leg and kicked him in the balls.
Sudden strength filled my bones and I managed to push his men aside and began running.
“You can’t get away bitch!” I heard someone growl as Ephraim groaned in pain from my attack.
Running halfway across the street, I felt a hand arresting my wrist, halting my run.
Turning my head, I found Ephraim. His eyes raged showing his lycan. I blinked rashly as he raised. his fist and slapped me hard across the face.
“Think

could get the fuck away?” He asked, sending another dizzying slap on my face.
I lost balance, releasing whimpers as pain suffocated me.
“You just made your damn punishment worse.” He growled, hitting me square in the face.
My arms flailed, wanting to hit him back but I was no match.
I felt the blood splurging from my nose, adding to my dizziness.
As I crumpled on my feet, I heard Ephraim command his men.
“Bring her!”

Fast footsteps on the ground told me they were rushing to reach me.
I was pulled up from the floor, I groaned as his men threw me over their shoulders and began carrying me away.
“Let me down.” I cried, hitting them at their backs but they wouldn’t let up.
We were almost snaking into the subway part when a thunderous growl ripped through the silent. night.
My head pounded at the sound of it. Ephraim and his men paused, taking in their surroundings.
“What the fuck was that?” The one carrying me asked, scared, I could almost smell it.
“Fucking don’t know Ilya,” Ephraim replied. “Keep moving.” He commanded his men and as they whirled around again, the raging growl snapped the air from our lungs.
Suddenly, Ephraim was pushed forcefully from his position and he clashed over the wall.
Standing before him was a lycanwolf, one I hadn’t seen before.
I watched with bleary eyes as he slashed his claws over Ephraim’s face, growling.
A loud thump on the floor told me the man carrying me had dropped me on the floor.
As if I were in a movie, I watched the men all shift to their lycans, howling as the strange lycan.

All sailed through the air, my stomach felt so upset by the gory sight before me.
I gasped and rolled back against the wall behind me, my hand cupped over my mouth.
Yet, I couldn’t get my eyes away from the blood bath as the lycan not only faced Ephraim but also. his guys.
One lycan took down about eight men. The way he pieced those men wanting to rape me told him he was stronger.
Who was that lycan? I hadn’t set eyes on a lycan so brute and fierce as that one.
With his hand over one of Ephraim’s men, he smashed his paws over Ephraim’s stomach as he

wanted to fight back.
Shivers clouded my skin as I watched Ephraim’s intestines pouring from his open belly onto the ground. His clothes were bathed in blood.
I closed my eyes to stop the scene from registering in my head but when I opened it again, I found out only three scared men were stumbling on their feet.
The lycan rushed to Ephraim’s body and severed his head from his body.
Throwing it at the feet of the men he growled. “Take it to whoever sent you!”
Hearing the growl pricked my body into awareness.
The men bent low and took Ephraim’s head as they hurtled away with their tales between their legs.
I couldn’t find it in me to speak as the Lycan drew closer…
The instant he stood before me he shifted back to his human form.
A gasp escaped as I watched the man standing tall and scary before me.
“You?” I stuttered, taking in the sight of the dick of my naked savior.
Words failed me at that moment. Before I could think further, the dizziness I felt returned and I collapsed.
